MiniBrew CAD 3D

Malt Color Test, Hardware 3D CAD, User Interface update and more

It’s going well in MiniBrew land, we’ve made huge progress on hardware engineering.

Currently, we’re working hard evaluating each individual component. Our hardware engineers on the project spent a large amount of their time exchanging complex data sheets filled with component specs. Not super exciting. By sharing our malt results, hardware drawings and software progress, you’ll have a sense of what’s going on.

Malt color test

Our test engineer specialized in food tech, Domagoj has done a lot of successful brewing tests. For example he is optimizing to get repeatable malt colors.

Our final model is coming along and from our point of view it’s near perfect before we can move into the next production phase. This is a preview of the 3D CAD drawing and keep in mind the colours are picked based on the module of the machine. For example green indicates everything involving the vessel.

User interface IU (preview)

Adrien is MiniBrew’s Chief User Interface design and Xaramin developer of our mobile app. Keep in mind that this is just a preview and it will change as we continue to develop. For example, we’re tracking all user behavior swipes and touches so we can analyze and optimize the app features.

MiniBrew Discovery App

Chief Software Developer Adrien Jeanjean working on the MiniBrew Discovery App

Adrien is working together with Tijn, our embedded engineer and developed an App for internal use that assures manual control over all components and sensors to brew top quality beer. Tijn built this iOS app super fast with swift and Xcode. Here is an example of a start up screen and a control unit.

Embedded update (preview)

Tijn, our embedded engineer also created a super handy a tiny printed circuit board (PCB) to easily reprogram the prototype boards during development. Genious! Here it’s in real life.

Other random bits from MiniBrew World

  • Started optimizing the brewing process by brewing 10 hours a day. That’s 3 sessions a day.

  • Starting usability testing of the app with our beta users.

  • Added small design details to make it more simple for you to fill the machine

  • Tested successfully a ton of recipes, even the hardcore IPA version of Brewdog.

  • Logged 20,000 points of data for each recipe to create a brew DNA.

  • We’re working on an update of the MiniBrew site where new beer lovers can start pre-ordering the MiniBrew

  • We’re on the hunt for talent. A Xamarin Mobile Developer to support Adrien. Mechanical engineers to bring the MiniBrew designs to the next level. And an embedded engineer who has just as good a programming skills as soldering skills.  Check our jobs page and spread the word if you know anyone who fits the bill.

In the next update we’ll post a demo of the Beta machine. Can’t wait to show you. Thanks again for backing us. And keep thirsty my friends.

Huge Thanks,

MINIBREW Team
